Laycock Street Community Theatre - Rocketman Flying Solo

Rocketman Flying Solo

Presented by Laycock Street Community Theatre

Greg Andrew celebrates the 50th Anniversary release of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road in this special concert experience. No one quite embodies the charm, the versatility, the dynamic charisma, and be able to recreate the flamboyant stage show of Sir Elton John.

With blindingly accurate and faithful recreations of Elton's greatest hits, combined with his effortless melodic skills and his reputation as a virtuosic pianist, Greg's uncanny likeness to the Rocketman has transformed him in to becoming one of the single most recognised Elton John performers in the world.

In 2017, Greg was hand-picked with a personal invitation as the only global Elton John tribute, to perform on the world's biggest tribute music festival stage in the UK, TRIBFEST .
This set the wheels in motion for what has become a very rich and enduring touring history with over twelve years on the world stage, performing to well over half a million enthusiastic patrons in over thirty countries, who have aptly described Andrews' performance as “fantastic”, “brilliant”, “the real deal” and as being “a real showman”.

Greg Andrew pays homage to Elton John in his two-hour concert production, which takes its name from one of the British singer-songwriter's most-loved tracks – Rocketman.
Rocketman Flying Solo celebrates the golden anniversary of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road in the first set and continues in the second set with songs that were all No.1 Hits! Rocketman Flying Solo sees Greg's show stripped back, intimate, up close and personal that is built on the hits and format of Sir Elton John's own solo touring show. Greg's Elton John Experience will have you second guessing yourself that you've not seen the real Elton. “Sir Elton always made the audience feel like every show was their show and I'm no different,” says Greg.

Born in to a musical family with both his primary school teacher parents consumed with playing a combination of piano, violin and saxophone, Greg himself is a classically trained pianist, having graduated from Queensland's Conservatorium of Music in 1989.

Greg channels the music of Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin, who have inspired Greg from such an early age and both he calls personal heroes.
“The music Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin have written together over their fifty-year career for me has been reminiscent to that of growing up with a lifelong friend. It is an incredible honour and privilege to perform these iconic songs, and have the audiences react the way they do.”

With Elton hanging up his mic with touring, the thirst for Elton John's music continues to grow which is a niche that Greg Andrew only hopes he can continue to fill.
“In this show, there's something for everyone. I would call this a celebration of Sir Elton John and his music, and his incredible legacy.”

With a phenomenal catalogue of songs to choose from that includes 37 gold albums, 27 multi-platinum albums, and with sales in excess of over 250 million albums worldwide, Greg has carefully curated a songbook of hits that includes ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road', ‘Bennie And The Jets, ‘Candle In The Wind', ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight', ‘Daniel, ‘I'm Still Standing', ‘Crocodile Rock', and ‘Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me', to name a few.
