An accomplished singer, songwriter, musician and actor, Minchin has conquered the worlds of comedy, music, theatre and television, from his hit musical comedy shows So Live and Tim Minchin Vs The Heritage Orchestra, Live at the Royal Albert Hall, to his Royal Shakespeare Company-produced musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's Matilda, a critical and commercial success that went on to win five Tony Awards. He is the head writer and co star of Foxtel's multi-award winning Upright, and has worked as an actor in stage, film and television. He continues to write and record music, with his solo debut as a recording artist – 2020's ARIA charting, pandemic-influenced Apart Together – drawing critical acclaim.
The magnificent Civic Theatre is the heart and soul of live performance in Newcastle, NSW Australia. It is a proscenium arch theatre seating 1474 in two tiers (stalls 859, dress circle 615) combining the grandeur and atmosphere of the stately historic theatres, with the comfort, technology and professional capability of today. The Civic Theatre also contains spaces for smaller more intimate functions or VIP events including the Civic Bar and Promenade Room and Balcony.
