One of the 21st century's best operas, Breaking the Waves has its Melbourne premiere this month!

Experience three-time Grammy nominee Missy Mazzoli's richly textured and deeply emotional music, performed live by Orchestra Victoria.
This semi-staged production by Melbourne Theatre Company Artistic Director Anne-Louise Sarks features a stellar lineup of Australian talent and is designed by Olivier Award-winner Marg Horwell (The Picture of Dorian Gray).

Based on Lars von Trier's seminal 1996 psychological drama (which won the Grand Prix at Cannes Film Festival), Breaking the Waves is set in a fiercely conservative community in the Scottish Highlands.
The music brings to life this dramatic setting and the story of Bess McNeill, a young woman who makes shocking sacrifices for the sake of her marriage.

Breaking the Waves plays Hamer Hall for one performance only!
